O líder das nomeações aos Golden Globes é “Up in The Air”, uma produção dramática que neste último trimestre conquistou alguns importantes prémios cinematográficos de variadas associações de críticos norte-americanos, obtendo agora seis nomeações para estes galardões que todos os anos são entregues pela Associação de Imprensa Estrangeira de Hollywood , sendo mundialmente vistos como um barómetro dos Óscares. O filme arrecadou nomeações nas categorias de Melhor Actor Dramático (George Clooney), Melhor Filme Dramático, Melhor Realizador (Jason Reitman), Melhor Actriz Secundária (Anna Kendrick e Vera Farmiga) e Melhor Argumento. O musical romântico “Nine” também fez justiça ao seu favoritismo e também conquistou várias nomeações nas categorias de Melhor Actor Cómico (Daniel Day-Lewis), Melhor Filme de Comédia ou Musical, Melhor Actriz (Marion Cotillard), Melhor Actriz Secundária (Penélope Cruz) e Melhor Canção Original. A grande surpresa destas nomeações foi a surpreendente ausência de “Invictus” da lista de nomeados a Melhor Filme Dramático, no entanto, esta produção biográfica sobre Nelson Mandela conquistou, ainda assim, três nomeações nas categorias de Melhor Realizador (Clint Eastwood), Melhor Actor Dramático (Morgan Freeman) e Melhor Actor Secundário (Matt Damon). “Avatar” e “Inglourious Basterds” também estão na corrida pelos principais galardões, bem como “Hurt Locker” e “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire”, inegavelmente as grandes surpresas do ano.
